A lot of people think of smoothing systems are only for the summer because they help with the crazy frizz we tend to get with the humidity. They are definitely helpful for that, so I totally get the desire! What we don’t tend to think about is the benefits of the smoothing system throughout the winter. Let’s talk about how the smoothing systems actually work, and why even if you have less frizz in the winter, they may be beneficial.

I want you to envision a strand of your hair, now think about a straw wrapping around the entire strand and being locked on. That is what you can think of the smoothing system is doing to your hair. Your hair gets frizzy or bigger because it naturally lacks moisture, and it is trying to absorb the moisture from the outside air. Winter months tend to be dryer; therefore, you notice your hair staying flatter and less frizzy. What we don’t think about is that we actually find ourselves blow drying our hair more during the winter because we don’t want it wet in the chillier days. This adds excess heat damage and an overall drying affect to the hair.
Having a smoothing system for the winter can help protect your hair because it cuts your drying time in half. This means less heat. You also will find you won’t need to reach for any hot tools to finish off your look. It will also help to lock in moisture that is lost in the dryer air of the winter. You may also think that if your hair is straight, it isn’t for you. This may be true!
